License Requirements, Fees, and Examination Information:
A natural person who, for direct or indirect compensation, introduces or refers one or more accredited investors, as that term is defined in Rule 501 (a) of Regulation D under the Securities Act of 1933 (17 C.F.R. 230.501(a)), to an issuer to one or more accredited investors, solely for the purpose of a potential offer or sale of securities of the issuer in an issuer transaction in this state.

Fees: Initial Application: $300.

Annual Assessment: Minimum $275.

Average Time to Process Application: Statement of Information for Finder and Consent to Service of Process to be submitted to DBO, average time to process application is 7 days.

Renewal Period: Within 30 days of the anniversary of the finder’s initial statement of information filing.

Special License Requirements: A finder cannot be registered representative of a broker-dealer; cannot be a subject to any order pursuant to Section 25212 of the Corporations Code and/or Rule 506(d) of Regulation D under the Securities Act of 1933 ((17 C.F.R. 230.506(d)).

Any person who intends to become a Finder in California must File a Notice by submitting a statement of information for finder application. The application should be filed directly with the Department of Business Oversight, and submitted to Broker-Dealer Investment Adviser Program.
