License Requirements, Fees, and Examination Information:
Fees: Application: $200; License: $190 for two years, prorated if less than two years on initial licensing; Renewal: $190 for two years.
Examination Frequency: April and October of each year.
Exam Locations: Exams given in Eureka/Arcata, Redding, Riverside, Sacramento, Santa Rosa.
Experience Requirement: Seven years of experience in forestry work, at least three years of which shall have been in charge of forestry work or forestry work under the direct supervision of a person registered or qualified for registration under provisions of the Public Resources Code:
a). A Bachelor of Science degree in a forestry major is equivalent to four years of experience.
b). A Bachelor's degree in a related major combined with a Master of Forestry degree is equivalent to four years' work experience.
c). A Bachelor of Forestry degree combined with a Master of Forestry degree is equivalent to 5 years' work experience. The Master of Forestry counts as one year of the required three years to be in charge of forestry work or working under the supervision of a qualified forester.
Average Time to Process Application: Approximately 3 months.
Renewal Period: Biannually, May 15 - June 30: Odd numbered licenses renew in odd years, even numbered licenses renew in even years.
