About the Green Economy Survey
In May 2009, the California Employment Development Department Labor Market Information Division launched the Green Economy Survey in collaboration with the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, Economic Strategy Panel, California Workforce Development Board (State Board), Air Resources Board, Community Colleges Centers of Excellence, and the California Energy Commission.

California's Green Economy, Summary of Survey Results
California’s Labor Market Information Division conducted a survey of a stratified random sample of 51,000 businesses in California across the economy—all industries, all size classes and all geographic areas—in order to assess the number and nature of green jobs in California, as well as the number of businesses that have adopted a range of sustainable business practices, and emerging green occupations. This report presents survey findings. Additional analyses are planned examining the survey data and related labor market information in greater geographic, industry and occupational detail to be published during 2011. California’s Green Workforce Coalition
Is a public-private alliance of business assistance and economic development entities, educational institutions, organized labor and workforce organizations, private firms, public utilities and authorities, and individuals devoted to developing a green workforce for a green future.

California’s Resource for Global Climate Change Information
To meet the state's greenhouse gas reduction targets, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger directed the Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) to coordinate with the Secretary of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency; Secretary of the Department of Food and Agriculture; Secretary of the Resources Agency; Chairperson of the Air Resources Board; Chairperson of the Energy Commission; and President of the Public Utilities Commission. The Secretary of CalEPA leads a Climate Action Team made up of representatives from the agencies listed above to implement global warming emission reduction programs and report on the progress made toward meeting the statewide greenhouse gas targets that were established in the executive order.

eRecycle.org
Is a partnership between government, manufacturers, retailers and the environmental community to provide guidance and information to consumers about recycling electronic waste.

FourEnergy
Represents the partnering work of California Community College Economic and Workforce Development Initiative programs and associated community colleges, universities and high schools.

Green Academy Workforce Initiative
In order to address local employers' green workforce needs, the Green Academy has brought together Alameda & Contra Costa County's workforce training providers and educational institutions to align their green tech training programs, resources, and curriculum to meet employer demand.

Green California
Through the "Green Building Initiative" and the accompanying Green Building Action Plan, California’s governor calls for public buildings to be 20 percent more energy efficient by 2015 and encourages the private sector to do the same. The State Department of General Services’s Green California is a gateway to the latest information about how the State is working to reduce energy and resource consumption in public buildings, while lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and creating healthier environments in which to work, live and learn.

New Energy Workforce (NEW) - Bay Area Community Colleges

Silicon Valley Solar Industry-Driven Regional Collaborative (SV Solar IDRC)
A strategic regional response to meet the need for a skilled workforce in photovoltaic solar system design and installation. This industry-driven effort institutionalizes within the community colleges training that individual employers previously provided--at cost to productivity and quality. Collaborators include the SolarTech solar industry association, the NOVA Workforce Investment Board, and six Silicon Valley community colleges including De Anza, Mission, San Jose City, Cabrillo, Ohlone, and West Valley.

Sustainable Development Education and Training Institute @ Trade-Tech
The mission of the Institute is to improve the economy and quality of life of the City and the region by building a local workforce skilled in the planning, management, and installation of renewable energy technologies.

The LA Infrastructure and Sustainable Jobs Collaborative
The purpose of the LA Infrastructure and Sustainable Jobs Collaborative is to bring together key public, private and community partners to plan and implement a seamless education, training and workforce infrastructure that connects low income, disadvantaged populations to livable wage jobs with career paths within the energy-utility industry.

Tri-Valley Business Council
The mission is to advocate for the private sector on regional issues in a way that enhances the economic vitality of the region. The Council sponsored an Energy Industry Workforce Development Summit, and continues work on strategic planning in this arena. More than 100 people participated in the August 13, 2008 Energy Industry Workforce Development Summit at Las Positas College in Livermore. The best measure of success was that 30+ volunteers stepped forward to help create a regional workforce development strategy for the energy industry. This strategy, when fully implemented, will create a comprehensive field of study based on job creation expected by the East Bay’s energy industry.
