About this area:
Napa is part of one of the state’s busiest urban areas—the San Francisco Bay Area. There are nine counties which significantly contribute to the economy of the Bay Area as an urban center: Napa, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Sonoma, Solano, and San Mateo. The majority of Napa County remains primarily agricultural due to the highly productive and successful wine-growing industry. Since much of Napa’s land is cultivated for grapes, newer residential and commercial development is concentrated in the existing cities, mostly located in the southern part of the county.
