About this area:
 Ventura County is located along the southern coast of California. Surrounding counties include Kern County to the north, Los Angeles County to the south and east, and Santa Barbara to the northwest. There are hundreds of miles of national and state parks and forests in Ventura County. The Los Padres National Forest makes up most of the northern half of the county; two major lakes, Lake Casitas and Lake Piru, also lie within Ventura's boundaries.
