About this area:
Located in northern California, easily accessible on Interstate 80, Placer is one hundred miles northeast of San Francisco. Its eastern border is twenty miles west of Reno. Surrounding counties include Nevada County to the north, Sacramento and El Dorado counties to the south, and Sutter and Yuba counties to the west. The state of Nevada borders Placer County to the east. The geography of the county encompasses the grasslands of Gold Country, the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, and numerous rivers, lakes, state and national parks, and ski resorts.
