License Requirements, Fees, and Examination Information:
Student research psychoanalyst means a person enrolled in a psychoanalytic institution for training in pscyhoanalysis who is registered with the Medical Board. Students may practice psychoanalysis under proper supervision as set forth in Section 1373 of the California Code of Regulations.

Fingerprint: $49.00 (plus rolling fees)
Renewal: $50
Examination Frequency: N/A
Exam Locations: N/A
Requirements: Official certification of enrollment in a Medical Board approved psychoanalytic program; Ph.D. or equivalency required.
Average Time to Process Application: 6-8 weeks
Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year). Students must submit verification of their continuing student status from the approved psychoanalytic institute.
Special License Requirements: N/A
Comments: Upon completion of training in psychoanalysis, persons registered with the Medical Board as a student research psychoanalyst who wish to continue to perform psychoanalysis must register as a research psychoanalyst.
