Examination: National Board of Examiners in Optometry Parts I, II, & III exams. California Law and Regulations Exam.
Examination Frequency: California Law and Regulations Exam, continuous.
Exam Locations: National Examinations given at Optometry schools around the U.S. and Canada.
Experience Requirement: Doctorate in optometry granted by accredited optometry school or foreign optometry school, pass the National Board of Examiners in Optometry’s Part I and Part II examinations, as well as the Clinical Skills portion of Part III (administered after January 1996).
Average Time to Process Application: up to 60 days.
Renewal Period: Biennially/cyclical; expires on the last day of birth month.
