Examination Requirements: Certified Hydrogeologist Examination is a 3-hour examination administered at a computer based testing center.

Background Check: Completing a background check is required for licensure. All applicants are required to submit fingerprints prior to sitting for examination. License: Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG)

Education Requirement: Graduation from a college or university with a major in geological sciences or any other discipline that, in the opinion of the Board, is relevant to geology.
Experience Requirement: Applicant must be a licensed Professional Geologist with either three (3) years of hydrogeology related work experience under the supervision of a Certified Hydrogeologist; or five (5) years experience in responsible charge of professional hydrogeologic work. Special License Requirements: Must be a licensed Professional Geologist in California to take the examination.
Average Time to Process Application: Three (3) months.
