Professional Geophysicist

Examination Requirements: The Professional Geophysicist Examination is a 4- hour examination administered at a computer based testing center.

Background Check: Completing a background check is required for licensure. All applicants are required to submit fingerprints prior to sitting for examination. License: Professional Geophysicist (PGp)

Education Requirement: Graduation with a major in a geophysical science or any other discipline that, in the opinion of the Board, is relevant to geophysics; or completion of a combination of at least 30 semester hours, or the equivalent, in courses that, in the opinion of the Board, are relevant to geophysics. At least 24 semester hours, or the equivalent, shall be in the third or fourth year, or graduate courses.

Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of professional geophysics work experience of a character satisfactory to the Board (after completion of the required education), demonstrating that the applicant is qualified to assume responsible charge of this work upon licensure as a geophysicist.
