License Requirements, Fees, and Examination Information:
Real estate agency activities for compensation.

Fees: Examination: $95; License: $300; Fingerprint processing: $49 for out-of-state applicants who use fingerprint cards.

Examination Frequency: Weekly.

Exam Locations: Sacramento, Fresno, Oakland, San Diego, and Los Angeles.

Experience Requirement: Two years full-time licensed salesperson experience within last 5 years or college graduate with a degree that includes a major or minor in real estate and 8 specified college level courses in real estate.

Average Time to Process Application: Approximately 4 weeks.

Renewal Period: 4 years.

Special License Requirements: Fingerprints

Comments: Corporations are licensed through a person qualified as a real estate broker. Brokers have a continuing education requirement of 45 clock hours of specified courses that must be taken before renewal. Real Estate Brokers may conduct Mineral, Oil, and Gas activity by virtue of the broker license.

Real estate brokers who conduct residential mortgage loan activities are required to obtain an Mortgage Loan Originator license endorsement to their real estate license.
