Ask an Economist -- Do you know how many people work in a county that do not live in that county?

Using data from the U.S. Census, the Labor Market Information Division (LMID) has developed maps for the state and counties based on the Census 2000 data about California residents and county commute patterns.

The Census Web site uses "Residence County" for where people live and "Work County" for where people work. See "County-To-County Worker Flow Files" for more information.
