If they work in a physician's office, they may work evenings and weekends. Early Career Planning

California offers Regional Occupational Programs (ROP) for Medical Secretaries. While continuing education is currently not a requirement, some Medical Secretaries increase their chance of promotion by keeping up to date with the latest developments in medical terminology and software applications. There are no certification requirements for a Medical Secretary.
